Director, Clean Growth Hub

What is a typical day in the life of a director of the Clean Growth Hub?

The Clean Growth Hub's whole-of-government service model is a unique approach for government, which may help to explain why I find every day unique and challenging. The Hub, located at 235 Queen Street, Level C3, is an initiative co-led by ISED and Natural Resources Canada (NRCan). As you can imagine, this requires that I spend part of my days working in close collaboration with my NRCan coDirector, be it on budget and HR planning, priority setting or reviewing deliverables and products. My typical days are spent attending client meetings, working with federal and provincial partners to enhance clean tech programming and, of course, identifying ways in which the Hub's services can remain at the forefront of innovative service delivery for government! No two days are ever the same, and that's why I love the Hub.

Why do you love what you do?

In addition to the Hub's uniqueness, the main reason why I love my job is the dynamic and engaged team members—or 'Hubbers'—with whom I have the pleasure of working every day. They hail from over 16 departments and agencies across the public service and include some of the most passionate and enthusiastic employees. I am truly in awe of my own team of ISED employees and feel very fortunate to work with them. Another reason I love my job is having an opportunity to play a part in supporting the Government of Canada's efforts to reduce the negative environmental impacts of climate change, which I feel very strongly about, while also growing a key sector for Canada's economy that is critical for our future sustainability.
