Certificate of Achievement Recipients
David Vandergugten
David Vandergugten teaches computer studies in the remote northern community of Fort St. John, where he himself went to school. His students at Bert Bowes Junior Secondary School benefit from his philosophy of educating the whole person, for Mr. Vandergugten has taught art and French as well as math and computer science. In the latter, he makes a phenomenal contribution, guiding the integration of technology into all the school's curricula, designing computer courses, establishing local networks and providing students and faculty alike with access to the latest technological tools. In 1997, he prepared the school for its very successful involvement in the APEC (Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation) Conference in Vancouver. APEC representatives actually visited the school to make a presentation.
