Teaching Approach:

Creates a stimulating and motivating classroom environment.

Supports student learning through authentic language experiences.

Outstanding Achievements:

Foster celebrates the culture of each language. One day, she will have students partner up for Spanish dance lessons with a guest dance instructor, and another day, they will craft piñatas to celebrate the festive season. In her French class, one may find the classroom transformed into a French café, complete with checkered tablecloths, croissants and café au lait.

Last year, 54% of the school's student population was studying second languages. This is remarkable, given that a second language is not required for a high school diploma in the province. Students of all backgrounds and abilities are encouraged to participate in the second language program at McNally.

Ms. Foster is involved in extra-curricular activities, such as yearbook editor, school photographer, assistant coach of the cheer squad and soccer teams, and volunteer for the Students' Union dances.

She also served as a member of the school's Technology and Newsletter Committees. She is a member of the school's Awards Board and the Instructional Leadership Team. At the district level, Foster is a member of the French Renewal Project Assessment Committee and president of the Monod Foundation (at the provincial level).
